MOBILE, Ala — The 2018 Senior Bowl activities kicked off on Tuesday with media day and interviews as well as the first batch of practices. Many of college football’s best seniors took part in drills, scrimmages, and on-the-field tests from Tuesday to Thursday to evaluate the player’s potential of being selected in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. Joining of the Draft’s best prospects are locals including former Gulf Shores Dolphin and Troy Trojans quarterback Brandon Silvers, former Daphne Trojan and the Citadel Bulldogs inside linebacker Myles Pierce and South Alabama Jaguars safety Jeremy Reaves (Pensacola Catholic).
Silvers has been competing with some of the draft’s best quarterbacks including Wyoming’s Josh Allen and Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma. Both Allen and Mayfield are projected to get drafted very hight. Silvers has been making great strides to present himself as a high-caliber passer and trying to make a name for himself especially being surrounded by all this talent.
Silvers isn’t worried about being overshadowed as he is enjoying the Senior Bowl experience and playing in familiar territory.

"It feels great coming back here where we've played here in high school and I've played here against South and here in the last bowl games,” Silvers said. “Just coming here and hanging out in Mobile has been really fun."

Both Pierce and Reaves are making their presence known in these Senior Bowl practices by being efficient and flying to the ball for their respective defenses in the North and South squad. Reaves is the fourth Jaguar to ever participate in the Senior Bowl. He has done a great job of making tackles in the open field and chasing to the defender from far away to save the touchdown in scrimmages.
Among some of the best performers in these Senior Bowl practices are Auburn’s Tray Matthews, Pittsburgh’s Brain O’Neill, Washington State’s Luke Falk, and Georgia’s Isaiah Wynn. Matthews has been one of the biggest surprises this week by not only flying to the ball but also making great tackles. Matthews continued his playing ability like he has at Auburn by reacting to the run from 10-15 yards away and making the tackle at the line of scrimmage.
