ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Crowds packed the Baldwin County Coliseum on Wednesday, Oct. 9 for the annual South Alabama Regional Planning Commission’s Area on Aging’s Baldwin County Senior Lifestyle Expo.

The annual event included free health screenings, provided by a variety of local healthcare providers, and information on aging services. Flu shots were also provided by CVS.

The event also featured a “Medicare Mall” providing information for Medicare’s Open Enrollment program. Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 is the time for seniors to review their plans and make any changes that need to be made by the Jan. 1 deadline.

Information was also provided regarding programs available through the Area Agency on Aging and included entertainment and shopping with games and prizes and a market area with local vendors, including personalities from WKRG Channel 5.

“We usually have about 800 to 900 people attend,” said Nancy Bledsoe with the Area Agency on Aging. “We just want everybody to come out, have a good time and learn about their healthcare options.”

Everyone who attended received a tote bag with the Area on Aging’s free Senior Resource Guide, Bledsoe said, along with a ticket for a free box lunch, a ticket for a prize drawing, and a ticket to spin the “Wheel of Fortune” for the chance to win a prize.
