Bay Minette man charged in shooting, hit-and-run

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette man, arrested in connection with a shooting incident Saturday, is now being charged in a related hit-and-run incident at the V&B Food Mart.

Bond for Nathaniel K. Johnson, 22, of Bay Minette, has now been set at $55,000, according to a release issued Friday by Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert, after an additional second degree assault charge was added.

Police say Johnson is responsible for both the shooting and the hit-and-run which began with an altercation in the store’s parking lot.

According a release issued March 3, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, BMPD patrol officers responded to V&B Food Mart in reference to a shooting.

When the patrol officers arrived on scene they discovered one adult male subject had been shot in the wrist in the store’s parking lot. The victim has since been identified as Christopher Allen Bush of Stockton. Bush was treated at USA Medical Center the night of the incident and was released fromt he hospital the next day.

Another adult male subject, who has been identified as Carl Labarrey Stanley of Stockton, was struck by a vehicle and sustained a leg injury in front of the convenience store on U.S. 31 South. Stanley was transported to USA Medical Center the night of the incident and has since been released from the hospital, according to Friday’s update.
