CBMS cheerleaders to attend National competition

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The 2018-19 Central Baldwin Middle School cheer team has earned the right to attend the UCA Nationals, which will be held Feb. 7-11 in Orlando, Florida.

“The girls have worked extremely hard to reach this goal,” said Head Coach Beth Driver.

Over the summer, CBMS cheerleaders attended a week-long camp at Auburn University. At the end of the week, they came in first place in the middle school division.

In November, CBMS traveled to Southeastern Louisiana University to compete in the Louisiana Regional Competition, which included cheerleaders from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, earning a bid to the Nationals with a third-place finish.

The team consists of 15 seventh and eighth graders from throughout Central Baldwin. CBMS includes students from the area’s six feeder schools, including Robertsdale, Loxley, Silverhill, Summerdale, Elsanor and Rosinton.

The group includes (listed in alphabetical order): Julianne Barnett, Karsyn Bodle, Bailey Cooke

Anna Katherine Driver, Emma Ellison, Sami Hall, Chloe Hopper, Kenzie Kostelecky, Landry Kostelecky, Meredith Lipscomb, Macie-Claire Moore, Ally Rackey, Jania Salter and Morganne Taylor.

Driver is assisted by coach Jamie Temple.

Driver said the team needs to raise about $16,000 to cover the cost of travel expenses, hotel and meals for each cheerleader. If you would like to donate, you can contact her at the school, 251-947-2327, email esdriver@bcbe.org, or there is a Go Fund Me page set up to donate at gofundme.com, search for CBMS goes to Nationals.

“Competing at Nationals is very expensive for a team of 15 cheerleaders,” Driver said.

“We are hoping to cover 100 percent of the costs for each cheerleader. We would love to give the girls this opportunity and memories that will last a lifetime.”
