Gulf Coast Media's Winter Edition of the Alabama Gulf Coast Visitor Guide will be coming out at the end of October. We are now accepting Church Listings to be included in the Winter Visitor Guide. Have your church information included in this guide utilized by visitors of Baldwin County as well as locals. Our Visitor Guides will be out from November through April, six months and the cost to be included is $75, only $12.50/month. Deadline to be included is Sept. 30. Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 200 S. Section St. in Fairhope will serve a Fried Fish Dinner complete with coleslaw, baked beans, hushpuppies, dessert and drink on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Plates are available at $10 per plate and orders may be eaten at the church or available for takeout (call 251-928-8397 to order a takeout order). Proceeds will go towards the Church's Building Fund.

 

Spanish Fort United Methodist Church located at 6530 Spanish Fort Blvd. in Spanish Fort will have a Uniform Closet/Open House on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. until noon. The event will be held in the Youth area on West Campus. There will be school uniforms and school supplies available.

 

Compass II Life will hold its first Back to School event Saturday, Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Compass II Life is a local based counseling and mentoring program for teens. Graduates from the program will take on Daphne/Mobile Police Department in a basketball game at Daphne Middle School. All students attending the event will hear empowerment speakers, receive food, and back to school supplies. Parent resources will be available for all parents.

 

First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort will have Back to School Bash on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 4 until 7 p.m.  There will be inflatable games, corn hole, snow-cones, hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and more.  For more information, contact Jennifer at 251-709-7083. Fairhope Christian Church will host a free 10-week, non-denominational, familial grief support program starting on Monday, Aug. 12, and ending on Monday, Oct. 21. It will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each Monday evening with the exception of Labor Day, Sept. 2. It will be facilitated by Pastor Rick Malugani and retired Disciples of Christ pastor, Jim Clifford. Rev. Clifford, a retired hospice chaplain, was affiliated with Community Grief in Birmingham, Al. offering support group leadership and grief counseling services.

If you or someone you know has lost a loved one and is struggling, this program will offer many tools to help. Because of the ongoing nature of this workshop, we will not admit new participants to the group after the second week's meeting. Unity on the Eastern Shore's World Day of Prayer will be held on September 12, the second Thursday of the month. People all around the world will focus on positive prayer; the theme this year is, "Infinite Presence, Unlimited Potential." We can draw upon the one divine power & presence to realize the limitless possibilities in life. Everyone is invited to participate in Unity's 24-hour prayer vigil & meditations. St. Peter's Episcopal Church will be hosting Fish Fries on the first Thursday of every month from May through October (excluding July 4th) from 5 to 7 p.m. Eat in or take out. $10 per plate and includes fresh fried mullet, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, hush puppies and a homemade dessert. St. Peter's is located at 6270 Bon Secour Highway (corner of County Road 10 and County Road 49) in Bon Secour. Next date: Sept. 5.

Join St. Paul's Episcopal Church Life Center the fourth Friday of each month for Spaghetti Dinner and Bingo. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. and the games start at 6:30 p.m. $5 for a full course dinner of spaghetti, salad, bread, drink, and dessert.  $20 for 11 games of Bingo.  Play them all or share with a friend! We WILL NOT be offering free babysitting this year, but kids are still welcome.  Everyone is welcome! We are located at 28788 N. Main St. in Daphne. Next spaghetti dinner and bingo night: Aug. 23.

YUM! Join Foley UMC on the first Friday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for our First Friday Fish Fry! Enjoy delicious white fish filets fried to golden perfection, accompanied by cole slaw, baked beans, hush puppies, dessert, and a drink all for a donation of $8! You can even get your order to-go! JSUMC Comfort Sowers meets every first Tuesday of the month at 9 a.m. at the Biscuit King and JSUMC CS 2.0 meets every third Sunday of the month at 11:30 at JSUMC, Building C. Next Dates: Tues., Sept. 3 for Comfort Sowers and Sun., Aug. 18 for CS 2.0. Join us as we create comfort items such as prayer shawls, fidget blankets, bears, and many more items.
