GULF SHORES, Ala. – The City of Gulf Shores is pleased to announce that the road race course for the Haunted Hustle 5K on Oct. 19 at West Gulf Place Public Beach is now a nationally measured and certified course. The certification number for the course is AL18053JE.

“The certified 5K course is flat and fast,” Jon Bowie, certifier for the USA Track & Field Road Running Technical Council (RRTC), said. “Starting and finishing at West Gulf Place, runners go out on Beach Boulevard to Lagoon Avenue and turn on 11th Street back to Beach Boulevard and straight to the finish.” The Haunted Hustle 5K is a part of the Wild & Wicked Beach Bash coming to Gulf Place Public Beach on Oct. 19. The Haunted Hustle 5K will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. The cost to participate in the Haunted Hustle 5K is $25 until Sept. 21. The cost to participate will increase to $35 on Sept. 22. All runners will receive a t-shirt; however, preferred shirt size is guaranteed for early registrants only. In addition to the Haunted Hustle 5K, locals and visitors are invited to wear their best Halloween costume and participate in the Witches on Wheels Bicycle Parade and live music from Doctor Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster. The Witches on Wheels bicycle ride kicks off the evening at 6 p.m. Witches and warlocks are invited to jump on their brooms (bicycles will suffice) and parade around the Gulf Place Town Green throwing beads and candy to bystanders. The cost to participate in Witches on Wheels is $15 until Sept. 21. Beginning on Sept. 22, the registration fee will increase to $20. The cost will include the event t-shirt.

For those wishing to participate in both the Haunted Hustle 5K and Witches on Wheels, the cost

is $35. Beginning Sept. 22, the price to participate in both events will increase to $45.

“We are excited to officially announce the certification of the Haunted Hustle 5K course,”

Recreation Manager Nicole Ard said. “This is a great course for adults of all fitness levels to

participate in whether they are running or walking. For those who do not wish to participate in

the Haunted Hustle 5K, we still encourage them to come out, enjoy spending time with friends,

collect candy from the Witches on Wheels bicycle parade and listen to great music by Doctor

Zarr, beginning at 8 p.m.”
