JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Devonta Preston has been a top offensive threat for the unbeaten MacMurray College (Illinois) football team. Through seven games, the junior wide receiver out of Baldwin County High School was second on the Highlanders' team with 158 kickoff return yards. One of his five returns was a team-best 45 yards. Preston was second on the squad with 498 receiving yards and had a team-high four receiving touchdowns.

In three games he has led players from both teams in receiving yardage. During Saturday's win over University of Minnesota, Morris, he had seven receptions, including a 37-yard touchdown, for his season-high so far of 147 yards. He entered this week ranked third in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with 71.1 receiving yards per game. Preston was an all-conference second-team selection last year. The Highlanders host Eureka College Saturday (Oct.21).

MORE FOOTBALL

Washington University in St. Louis senior defensive end Garris Goe had a 31-yard interception against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Bayside Academy alumnus recorded his first career interception at his team's own 2-yard line to end a first-quarter drive. The Bears’ team captain also had three tackles.

Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) freshman running Nathan Barnes was among the team's top rushers through seven games (0-7). The Baldwin County graduate rushed 50 times for 201 yards, second on the squad, in the six games he played and tied for the team lead with two rushing touchdowns. He had three receptions for 17 yards.

Harvard University senior safety Tanner Lee is a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, which recognizes "an individual as the absolute best in the country for his academic success, football performance and exemplary community leadership," according to the National Football Foundation online site. The Daphne High graduate had a 39-interception return for a score against Brown and added five tackles.

Formerly at Spanish Fort High, Samford University tight end Kevin Marion has had two catches for 23 yards in four games.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Sophomore Rachel Kibler started one of the four games she played for Lander University. She competed for Foley High.

Sophomore midfielder Rachel Collins started 11 of the 13 games she played for University of Alabama in Huntsville. She played for Daphne High.

Fairhope High graduate Allie Baumhower had one goal in playing 11 games for Southern Miss.
