Dayton Cook has been an offensive leader for the Point University (Ga.) baseball team. One of three to start the first 30 games, the Spanish Fort High School graduate had a team-high .419 batting average, which ranked fourth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
The junior leadoff hitter had a team-best 11 doubles, second in the conference, one home run and 15 runs batted in. The first baseman had a .982 fielding percentage in a team-high 219 chances. 

More baseball
Senior designated hitter Brian Lane started the first 26 games for Delta State University. The former Toro hit .350 with five home runs and 29 RBIs.

Sophomore outfielder Jimmy Johnstone led Millsaps College with a .425 batting average in 22 games played. The Baldwin County High graduate had nine RBIs and five stolen bases in seven attempts.
Brandon Broussard started the first 22 games for Mississippi College and batted .270. The Robertsdale High product had one home run and 11 RBIs. He had a perfect fielding percentage in 167 chances, second most on the squad.
Pitcher Austin Chastang, a Bayside Academy alumnus, had two saves and a 5.59 earned run average in seven appearances for Mississippi College.
Previously at Gulf Shores High, junior outfielder Corey Kelley hit .158 in 15 games, including 11 starts, for University of West Alabama.

Football
Darius Powell is a wide receiver and defensive back for the Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League. The Foley High graduate completed his college career at Delta State.

Men's lacrosse
Freshman Landon Johnson started four of the 10 games he played for Palm Beach Atlantic University. He is out of Bayside Academy.

Women's track and field
Goshen College freshman Natalie Omtvedt set a personal record of 27.95 seconds in the 200-meter dash at the Crosswoods League Indoor Championship. The Daphne High graduate placed 14th. The freshman made her debut in the 60 dash and placed 17th. She was the team's top finisher in those events.
