LOXLEY, Alabama — A reported bomb threat at Loxley Elementary School on Thursday, Oct. 11 turned out to be a hoax, officials said.

According to a release issued Thursday by the Loxley Police Department, shortly after 11 a.m. a student at Loxley Elementary reported seeing a message written on the bathroom wall indicating there were possibly explosives in the school.

Loxley Elementary School personnel and Loxley Police School Resource Officer immediately began to take precautionary steps and protocols were put into place.

Loxley Police, along with Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Baldwin County School Superintendent Eddie Tyler and his administrative personnel quickly responded to the school and a coordinated effort was conducted determining there was no credible threat regarding the situation.

Students were able to return to class within approximately one hour and there is an ongoing investigation to determine a responsible person or persons.
