BAY MINETTE, Ala. -- Baldwin County High School alum Keiven Mixson has been named the Coach of the Year for the AHSAA Class 1A-4A All-Metro Boys Basketball Team. Mixson is in his first year as head coach of the Tallassee Tigers and led the team to a 15-12 season, exceeding their wins from the previous two seasons combined (14-35).

This marks the team’s first winning season since 2013 and the Tigers’ 4A Area 5 tournament championship was its first postseason title since 2001.

Mixson is a 1988 graduate of BCHS and played for the Tigers. He went on to coach at the middle, high school and collegiate levels, including a stint at then-Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette. He was also on the coaching staff at Faulkner University in Montgomery.
