LOXLEY, Alabama — A Pensacola man has been charged in the death of a Louisiana woman killed while walking on Interstate 10 on Thursday, Oct. 18, according to a release issued Friday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

At approximately 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 in Bay Minette, Alabama State Troopers arrested 48-year-old Ronald Milford Sims. He was booked into the Baldwin County jail on charges of felony leaving the scene of an accident with injury or death. He has been released on a $20,000 bond.

Maria Osorio, 43, of Gretna, Louisiana, was originally a passenger in a vehicle that had pulled onto the shoulder of eastbound I-10 near the 43-mile marker, one mile west of the Loxley/Bay Minette (Alabama 59) exit.

According to the release, Osorio exited the vehicle and walked into the roadway where she was struck and killed by a vehicle that left the scene.

Troopers located a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche at a service station on Alabama 59 at County Road 64 believed to have been involved in the crash. Sims has been identified as the owner of the vehicle.

Loxley Police, Florida Highway Patrol and the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office were all instrumental in the arrest.
