Protect our freedom from over-regulation

Posted

Burdensome regulation is destroying our country. Over-regulation stifles innovation and creates a situation in which economic growth and job creation are discouraged. Reasonable regulation is necessary to a functioning society, but over-regulation can cause people or businesses to “pick and choose” which to follow, creating a bureaucracy tied to enforcement.

Our Constitution provides a strong framework for the operation of our nation, outlining freedoms protected for our citizens. Although we should not clutter our Constitution with miniscule details, there comes a time in which the only protection for our citizens must be in the form of a Constitutional Amendment.

In this instance, the Amendment, known as the Regulation Freedom Amendment, would ensure that federal regulations are approved by elected representatives of the People, not dictated by unelected Washington bureaucrats.

“Whenever one quarter of the Members of the U.S. House or the U.S. Senate transmits to the President their written declaration of opposition to a proposed federal regulation, it shall require a majority vote of the House and Senate to adopt that regulation.”

Protecting our freedom from over-regulation is essential to our identity as Americans.
