LILLIAN, Alabama — The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their help with identifying a robbery suspect.

On July 13, a robbery occurred at the Family Dollar in Lillian. The suspect stole cash before producing a firearm as a Family Dollar employee attempted to confront him. The suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

“During our investigation, surveillance footage was obtained that depicted the suspect committing the robbery,” according to a release issued Wednesday, July 25 by Lt. Andre L. Reid with Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Command.

On July 18, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office released information asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. The news story included still photographs taken from video footage.

“Within a very short period of time, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division received numerous anonymous tips,” according to the release.

Those tips let to the arrest of 26-year-old Zachary J. Brill of Pensacola on July 19 in Escambia County, Florida. Brill was booked into the Escambia County Jail on first degree robbery charges and is being detained for hold with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, according to online records.

“The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of the public for their on-going support and willingness to contribute by providing information to assist our agency in solving crimes,” according to the release. “All of Baldwin County benefits because of community partnerships like this.”
