ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Robertsdale man is being held without bond after being arrested by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office last week on second degree rape charges involving a juvenile under the age of 16.

Juan Balderas Chimalhua, 49, of East Silverhill Avenue, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility just after 4 p.m. on Friday.

Lt. Clint Cadenhead with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Monday the charges involved a juvenile under the age of 16, but said no other information is being released at this time.

Chimalhua is being detained on an immigration hold and is being held without bond, according to Corrections Department records.

Only one other booking record is listed on the Corrections Facility website, a traffic charge from December 2010 with the Sheriff’s Office. Chimalhua was detained for just over an hour before being released on a $295.50 bond.
