BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Baldwin County High School Tigerettes and Bay Minette Middle School Tiger Paws recently took part in the UDA Magic City Dance Championship in Birmingham, featuring teams from across the state.

The Tiger Paws competed in two junior varsity categories: Hip Hop and Pom. They placed fifth in Hip Hop and sixth in Pom.

The Tigerettes competed in large varsity kick and Pom. They placed third in Kick and second in Pom. They also won Judges' Choice for Best Costume for their Wizard of Oz, Dorothy-inspired Kick costume.

The Tigerettes performed to “It is a Wizard of Oz/The Wiz” medley. Coach Elizabeth Byrd said the teams represented their schools and community well, both on the dance floor and backstage. While this completes the Tiger Paws competition season, The Tigerettes will move on to compete nationally at the DTU National Championship in Orlando, Fla. in February.
