BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Changes are underway at some intersections in Bay Minette.

Last year the City Council contracted with Neel-Schaffer Inc. of Mobile to perform a traffic study on several issues, including the use of the multi-way stops through the city.

Sixteen intersections were identified for the study with consideration to high crash locations and traffic volume balance.

Following its analysis, the firm indicated that there were several multi-way stops that should be removed.

The City Council studied the report and has determined that the number of multi-way stops can be reduced to help ease the flow of traffic. The changes were highlighted in the city’s quarterly newsletter mailed out a few months ago.

The Public Works Department has begun changing out some 4-way intersections to 2-way stops. These changes will affect the intersections at:

* East 12th Street/Thomley Avenue (east/west).

* East Fifth Street/Bradley Avenue (east-west).

* West Seventh Street/Moog Avenue (east-west).

* Almyra Street/Collier Avenue (east-west).

* West Sixth Street/Armstrong Avenue (east-west).

* West Sixth Street/McMillan Avenue (north-south).
