SILVERHILL, Alabama — Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will be out in full force in the early morning hours Saturday conducting safety checks on Alabama 104 in Silverhill.

Sgt. Michael Taylor, Silverhill’s acting police chief, announced at the Silverhill Town Council meeting Monday night that about seven ALEA troopers will be conducting a safety checkpoint at around 2 a.m. on Saturday along the main state highway which runs through Silverhill.

They will be checking to make sure drivers have their licenses, proof of insurance and vehicle tag registration, as required by law.

Troopers will also be conducting vehicle safety checks, making sure headlights, taillights and all indicator lights are in working order.

There will also be a canine officer on sight during the safety check, Taylor said.
