Replacement tips -- For good times and bad with Steve Mayhall

Posted

My buddy Steve is a local businessman, and an avid golfer. He’s a regular at the Azalea City Men’s Club tournament every Tuesday, and over the years he and I have enjoyed playing some of the best links on the Gulf Coast.
Recently Mayhall had the unthinkable happen when some desperado broke into his van and stole his clubs. After a proper time of mourning -- about five adult beverages, he set out with the task of replacing his clubs. He ended up with an eclectic mix of weapons crafted to aide the golfer’s eternal quest of chasing the little white ball.
Here’s what’s in his new bag.
The driver is a TaylorMade M2 with a 10.5 degree loft. The 3-wood is a TaylorMade White-Headed Burner with a Matrix X Con 4.8 shaft. Steve carries a Callaway Big Bertha 7-wood, aka Heaven Wood, it has a Bassara shaft.

Irons are Mizuno JPX 850, 5-pw all with True Temper XP 105 steel shafts. Two wedges, a 52 degree Mizuno S5 with a True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shaft, and a 56 degree Callaway with a Speedstep 80 shaft complete the irons. All clubs feature stiff shafts.
For the greens he selected the popular Scotty Cameron Select Steel putter with a Super Stroke grip.

Ball choice is Titleist Tour Soft. And favorite gloves and shoes are by FootJoy.
