Joy Morris (nee Jacqueline Joy Whatley) of Naperville, Illinois passed away on Dec. 2, 2016.

She was born Oct. 26, 1939 in Mobile, Alabama.

Beloved wife of Rick Morris, with whom she shared 59 years, loving mother of Michael and Lynn Morris of Indianapolis, Indiana, Heather and Scott Niessner of Oswego, Illinois and Melissa and John Sprafka of Mandeville, Louisiana. Adored grandmother of Whitney and Simon Morris-Lange; Mackenzie Morris; Rene, Alec, and Christopher Niessner; and Jack and Mark Sprafka. Devoted daughter of the late Happy and Mary (nee Doby) Whatley; and dear sister of the late Happy Whatley Jr. Loved one and friend of many.

Joy grew up in Mobile, Alabama, attended Murphy High School (class of 1957) and retired from College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

She has many club affiliations, including Cress Creek Country Club of Naperville, Illinois and Moose Club of Bradenton, Florida.

Her Christian faith and generous spirit were as beautiful as the flowers and plants she loved and nurtured so well, bringing joy to everyone around her. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by so many others' that she has touched.

She so enjoyed traveling, reading, collecting, gardening, and most of all cooking and being with friends and family.

Visitation Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, 1-4 p.m., with the memorial service starting at 4 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, Illinois.

Interment: Private.
