FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Grant Murray scored to tie and Anthony Lazzari kicked the extra point to give St. Michael Catholic a 7-6 lead over visiting Chickasaw with four minutes, 28 seconds left in the fourth quarter. But the Chieftains recaptured the lead on a late touchdown by Zaqorean McDade and a 2-point conversion run by James Chandler for the 14-7 win.

An early defensive battle led to a 0-0 halftime score at Majors Field in Fairhope Municipal Stadium Monday night. Murray’s 2-yard TD run capped a 70-yard drive to open the final period with SMCHS trailing 6-0. McDade also scored the first Chieftains TD in the third quarter.

The Cardinals will host Bayside Academy in JV action Monday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m.
