LOXLEY, Alabama — ALDI, the value leader among U.S. grocery stores for 10 years running, recently announced the opening of its 2,000th store and the kick-off of a new wave of expansion by announcing plans to construct its 26th regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley.

According to a press release issued Tuesday, July 21, the 564,000-square-foot warehouse will have prime access to Interstate 10 and Alabama 59. The facility is projected to serve more than 8 million customers and more than 80 ALDI stores in southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, as well as in Louisiana, which will mark the company’s presence in 38 states.

ALDI, which has tripled its sales in the past decade, continues to chart aggressive growth and operates 180 stores in Alabama and Florida, plus four existing regional headquarters and distribution centers. “We are proud to locate our newest regional headquarters and distribution center in Baldwin County. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said officials are eager for ALDI to expand its presence in the state.

“We’re proud to stand behind ALDI’s commitment to bringing value to the people of Alabama and the Gulf Coast region,” she said, “and we welcome the company’s plans for a regional headquarters and distribution hub in Loxley that will create jobs for our hardworking citizens.”

The new Loxley facility, in line with ALDI distribution centers and warehouses across the country, will feature full LED lighting and a roof-mounted solar system, which will run the bulk of the energy-efficient refrigeration.

Additionally, ALDI consulted industry experts to ensure the new facility offers a modern layout designed specifically for ALDI, and Loxley will be the first ALDI facility with a cross-docking system to further optimize efficiency.

“We are proud that ALDI has selected Loxley for this monumental investment, bringing a regional headquarters is great for Loxley, Baldwin County and Alabama,” said Loxley Mayor Richard Teal.
