Andrew Monaghan takes Magnolia Springs Council Place 1

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS - During the Nov. council meeting, it was voted unanimously that Andrew Monaghan would be joining the council, taking seat one. Three letters of interest were submitted to the council before Monaghan was nominated to fill the position.

The seat became open last month, after former town mayor Bob Holk announced his resignation. It was then voted for Kim Koniar, previous seat one councilmember, to adopt the position of mayor for the remainder of the term. The seat vacancy was announced following the appointment of Koniar as mayor.

“Congratulations to Andrew, our new councilperson on place one,” Koniar said following the appointment. “We look forward to working with him on the council.”

Judge Tim Russell was present at the meeting to swear Monaghan into the position. Monaghan is a local attorney who Russell believes will be a good fit for the town council.

“I want to commend you on appointing Andrew, I’ve known him for many years and he’s an outstanding attorney,” he said. “He practiced in probate court and was always an excellent attorney who did what was best for his clients, and was very professional.”

Koniar encourages town citizens to continue to be involved with the town council as well as join committees to help keep Magnolia Springs a wonderful place to live.
