BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A Bay Minette resident was arrested on domestic violence assault and making terroristic threats following an hours-long standoff with police on Sunday.

According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Center website, 29-year-old Tashawn Quamaine Mallory, whose address is listed as East Hickory Street, was booked around 7 p.m. on Sunday, charged with domestic violence assault, third degree; endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors; along with felony terroristic threat charges. He is currently in jail without bond.

According to a release issued Sunday by Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert, officers were called to a residence on Taylor Street regarding a domestic violence complaint.

Upon the officers’ arrival they encountered a man and a woman in the front yard of the residence arguing. When officers attempted to speak with the man, he reportedly became aggressive toward the officers.

“The male subject (later identified as Mallory, according to the release) told officers if they did not leave his property, he was going to shoot them,” according to the release. Mallory then reportedly took a young child, identified in the press release his 1-year-old son, fled into the residence and refused to come out.

“Officers backed away from the residence and requested additional officers to the location. Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team was also requested. When additional officers arrived, phone communication was established,” according to the release.

After several hours of negotiating Mallory agreed to come out of the house and surrender peacefully.

This investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
