OXFORD, Ala. — The Baldwin County High School Golf team recently took part in the sub-state tournament in Oxford. Representing the Tigers included team members Owen Nobles, Jarrod Phillips, Blayne Shackelford, Chandler Peacock, Sawyer McCullough, Justin Jeffers, Sam Denson, Aaron Nobles, Matthew Franklin and Brendon Welch.

Coach Richie Nobles said he was proud of their effort and sees a bright future for the young team.

“Greatness is in the air. This year we have set the stage for our future teams,” Nobles said. Led by senior Owen Nobles, the Tigers enjoyed a successful season which earned them a place at the sub-state tournament. The coach said young team members A.J. Nobles and Blayne Shackelford had a great run at the sub-state tournament and called them “golfers to watch.”

He said the entire team had a great season and he “can’t wait to see how the team grows and develops next year.” To that end, Nobles issued a challenge: “ Attention all students: pick up a golf club, learn the game and come be a part of the championship-building program.”

The coach also took time to thanked team sponsors and the school’s administration including Principal Craig Smith and Athletic Director Nathan McDaniel and Coach Adam Wallace for supporting the golf program. “Holly Hills (Municipal Golf Course) has been wonderful as our practice facility,” he said. “We are looking forward to the promise of next season.”
