Billy Walker, 80, passed Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 after a battle with cancer in his home in Gulf Shores Alabama, surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Gale Steadham Walker; his son, Guy R. (Deborah Lawrence) Walker; his daughter, Billie Gene (Jeff) Allen; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Rufus E. Walker Sr.; his mother, Emma Willis Walker; and brother, Rufus E. "Bo"Walker.
Billy attended Foley Schools, grades 1-12, graduating in 1956. He was an outstanding athlete (football, basketball and track), and was enshrined in the Foley High School Sports Hall of Fame.
He attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship, but came back home to do the thing he loved most; carrying on his father's legacy: charter fishing on the "Sea Duster" ... about which he was universally proclaimed "a legend."
A memorial for Billy will be held at the Gulf Shores Cultural Arts Center, 19470 Oak Road West (Baldwin County Highway 6) from 10 until 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018.
