Blakeley to Host Artist Workshop Focusing on Nature

Posted

Historic Blakeley State Park invites you to join us for a special workshop focusing on our amazing natural environment from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. This short, interactive program will help amateur and aspiring artists develop their drawing skills and encourage guests to venture into the forest where their own new discoveries await. The workshop will draw on easily-overlooked botanical jewels such as mushrooms and wildflowers as inspiration for the hobby of nature journaling.

Our instructor, Nancy Milford, is a Baldwin County girl through and through. She has a passion for Alabama flora and fauna which led her to study biology at the University of South Alabama. She later pursued a career as an engineer, but re-connected with nature and began to explore her more creative side by drawing and painting wildlife. Nancy is a self-taught artist, but continues to attend workshops to polish her craft. She is a member of the Mobile Arts Council and the American Society of Botanical Artists.

The workshop is complimentary with regular park admission. No drawing experience necessary, but please bring a sketch book, pencil, eraser and chair!
