Canal Road lane closure will continue March 16-19

Posted

Starting Monday, March 16, ALDOT’s Canal Road widening contractor will begin installing additional drainage pipes across Canal Road at William Silvers Parkway, Lindsey Lane and near O’Reilly Auto Parts. The work will require the closure of one westbound lane.

Work is expected to take place from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day up to Thursday, March 19. One westbound and one eastbound lane will remain open although lanes will be shifted as the pipe installation progresses.

The contractor will set up the lane closure Monday, March 16, to allow bi-directional traffic to flow while the crews open cut the roadway to install the new drainage crossings. The contractor plans to work in three locations near William Silvers, Lindsey Lane and O’Reilly Auto Parts.

The lane closures will be approximately 1,000 feet long. Traffic cones will be used to delineate the by-directional traffic. Plans are to open all lanes to traffic at the end of each workday pending no issues.

As work progresses at each location, lane shifts will be adjusted to ensure traffic can safely pass through the lane closure allowing the drainage work to continue across the roadway. Uniformed police officers will be staged at each location to manage traffic during hours of work. It’s very important for drivers to slow down for the safety of all workers.
