Central Baldwin Chamber's annual event showcases food, wine, small business

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will hold its 14th Annual “Flavors of the South,” wine and food tasting event July 20, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale.

The event is a premier showcase for local wine, beverage and restaurants, their chefs and culinary personalities. This is an opportunity to get involved with a large community event that allows for consumer exposure with attendance of more than 400 people.

“We are expecting about 30 vendors (food and wine) at this event,” said Chamber Executive Director Gail Quesada, “and we are looking forward to showing people what this area has to offer.”

Individual tickets will still be available for sale at the door, $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 to 12.

Presenting sponsor for this year’s event are Central Baldwin Immediate Care and The Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.

Additional sponsors include:

Diamond sponsor: Piggly Wiggly Cost Plus.

Gold sponsors: Budweiser-Busch Distributing Co., Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Inc., Robertsdale Dental Care, Thomas Hospital and Power Productions.

Silver sponsor: Riviera Utilities, Advantage Business Solutions and Campbell Hardware & Sporting Goods.

Bronze sponsors: Citizens’ Bank and Habitat for Humanity.

The event will also feature a silent auction. Silent auction items are donated from area businesses to assist the chamber in bringing in operating funds.

New this year will be a Small Business Expo, which will feature 10 slots available for area small businesses. In the past, Quesada said, the Chamber has hosted a Small Business After Hours in June, but by combining the two events, she hopes to make the showcase for small businesses bigger and better each year.

“This is a way for us to showcase those businesses that may not have the space or be able to host a Business After Hours,” she said. “We want all businesses to know that the Chamber is here to work for them to provide opportunities for their business.”

Also new this year, the Chamber will kick off its 15 Guns in 15 Days Raffle at Flavors of the South.

Tickets are $50 each and are good for 15 chances to win. Tickets will also be available for purchase after Thursday at the Chamber or at Campbell’s Hardware & Sporting Goods in Robertsdale. Drawings begin Oct. 2.

“We’ve had success in the past raffling off a single gun,” Quesada said, “so we’re hoping that after the success of this raffle, we will be able to continue to expand in the future.”

Total retail value of the guns is $8,500 and includes three handguns, six shotguns and six rifles.
