Charles David Middleton Sr. - October 31, 1946-December 21, 2020 of Robertsdale, AL. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles David “Big Dave” Middleton, Sr. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to so many. He died on December 21, 2020 from an unexpected complication after a brief illness. He leaves behind his spouse of 33 years Lillie Middleton, his son Charles David “Little Dave” Middleton, Jr. (spouse Pam Middleton), daughter Pamela Middleton Sutton (spouse Brett Sutton), stepdaughter Lisa Langham Klein; his 5 grandchildren- Sara, Ann Charles, Stacey, Maegan, and Josh; his 4 great grandchildren- Gavin, CJ, Evelyn, and Olivia; and his sister Suzy Archer (spouse David Archer). He was preceded in death by his parents- Ernest Luvern and Margaret Middleton and brother Dennis Howard Middleton. The family appreciates the overwhelming amount of love and support we have received from all those who knew Big Dave and from those whose lives he has touched. His heart was as big as his smile which matched his infectious laugh. Known by many as the “the unofficial Mayor of Robertsdale” he loved his hometown and the generations of his friends and relatives who lived there. He was a vintage car enthusiast and collector, semi-pro pool shark (refer to earlier years), wild bird sanctuary provider, and a lover of hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. He was a self-made successful entrepreneur, businessman, and philanthropist who spent his entire working life in the auto parts industry. He went from sweeping floors for his first job as a teenager to working his way up to owning his own business. He started his beloved Middleton Auto Parts over 30 years ago. It is still one of the most successful locally owned businesses in Baldwin County today. He announced his official retirement to his family over 12 years ago. He then proceeded to never miss a day of work for the next 12 years. Family runs deep. He loved you all… A life celebration will be held Saturday, January 16: Rollin Relics and Hardware, 18365 Ohio Street, Robertsdale, AL from 4-7 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers to please consider giving donations to: Women’s Care Medical Center, 18555 Carolina Street, Robertsdale, AL 36557.
