DAPHNE, Ala. - The City of Daphne is pleased to announce the addition of new Tennis & Pickleball Complex Coordinator David Pantović to the Sports & Recreation Department staff.

Pantović grew up in Čačak, Serbia where he began playing tennis at the age of six. It is there that Pantović began his professional tennis career, playing in hundreds of tournaments including the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship, Eddie Herr International Championship, and winning the European Team Championship. He was also a member of the Auburn University at Montgomery men’s tennis team winning two national titles during his time there.

“We are thrilled to have someone with such experience as David on our staff,” says Daphne Mayor Robin LeJeune. “The knowledge and talent he brings to our community is the perfect complement to visions we have for the Jubilee City. He will also bring new tournaments and clinics and help develop future players. It is great for our community to have someone of this caliber staff our new tennis & pickleball facility.”

In 2011, Pantović received his Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA) coaching diploma in Bettona, Italy, which was certified by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). This diploma was also approved and signed by some of the best coaches in the world, including Antonio “Toni” Nadal (coach of Rafa Nadal), Alberto Castellani, Dirk Hordorff and Rainer  Schuettler.

Pantović has his Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) coaching certification, and since 2012, has been a member of both the United States Tennis Association (USTA), and the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR). He is also a valued member of the USA Pickleball Association and the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) - the official education and certification partner of the USA Pickleball.

Since relocating to the United States, Pantović has coached players of all ages and levels including several nationally and internationally ranked juniors, as well as members of the ATP and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) professional tours. He was also the practice hitting coach to Novak Djokovic, the number one ranked men’s player in the world.

In 2011, Pantović founded the Point Clear Tennis Academy which later became Pantović Tennis Academy. This Academy was the first of its kind and still features some of the top junior and senior players in state, national, and world competitions, as well as high school and college team players.

Pantović was also the Director of Tennis at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for over 10 years. He and his wife, Victoria, have four children and currently reside in Olde Towne Daphne.
