ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating after a couple was found dead Sunday in a fire-damaged home on Devine Road in Robertsdale.

According to a social media post from the Robertsdale Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Devine Road at around 2:46 p.m. Sunday after a neighbor reported a broken window at the residence while attempting to deliver a package intended for that residence.

“When he went to deliver the package to its rightful owner, he discovered a broken window at the residence and was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence,” according to the post.

Officers responding to the scene discovered that there had been a fire at the residence and two people, identified only as a man and wife by police, were found dead inside the residence.

Police do not suspect foul play at this time, said Lt. Ted Stone, chief investigator with the Robertsdale Police Department. The couple has been identified and next of kin have been notified, he said, but their names have not been released, pending an investigation by the Alabama Fire Marshal’s office.
