MOBILE, Ala. — Baldwin County High School student-athlete Alondra Rangel received the Mobile Optimist Club's Cross Country 6A Athlete of the Week Award. She was honored for her performance at sectionals, where she finished in third place overall for 6A. This marks the first time a female athlete from BCHS has won this prestigious honor.

Rangel and her fellow Lady Tigers teammates finished in third place overall at the Sectional competition and then qualified for the state contest for the first time in a decade. The team has also enjoyed a top-12 state ranking this season. At state she led the Lady Tigers to an 11th-place finish.

Rangel emerged earlier this season as the front-runner for the Lady Tigers with a Top-10 finish at the county competition.
