Edward “Pat” Caldwell

Edward "Pat" Caldwell died Sept. 19, 2017 at Florida Hospital Tampa at the age of almost 93.

He graduated from Auburn University with degrees in mechanical and agricultural engineering. He farmed his land in Foley, Alabama, and then worked as an engineer at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida until his retirement in 1985.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for three years during WWII as a B-25 pilot, and was a recipient of two Bronze Stars. He spent 24 years on active reserve duty in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Caldwell was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church until moving to Lutz, Florida in 2001.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Bishop Caldwell.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Caldwell and Julie Martinez; grandchildren, Corey Waxman, Lindsay Abbey and Hayley Martinez; and great-grandchildren, Timothy and Adalyn Waxman.

A memorial service will be held at Pleasant View Baptist Church on Sept. 30, 2017 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
