ELBERTA - Looking for some fun events to end October and kick off November? The Town of Elberta has you covered!

First off, enjoy the Drive Thru Sausage Festival, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. or until sold out. The Elberta Volunteer Fire Department will be cooking and selling 4,000 pounds of Elberta German Sausage with or without kraut for $5 per sandwich. Cash and credit will be accepted for payment, and donations are welcome. All proceeds go directly to the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department.

Vehicle traffic will enter the line from Main Street onto School Street. During the event, both lanes of School Street will be one way to allow for two lines. Both lines will turn onto Chicago Street, which will also be one way to form two lines. Each line will have a pickup point at the Fireman’s Hall and its own route to exit the pickup point. Those who wish to purchase raw sausage may exit by going forward instead of left or right. Personnel will be stationed at various points to help direct traffic.

Then on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m., the Town of Elberta will hold its Annual Veterans Day Parade. This event will be a tailgate event to follow social distancing guidelines, and those who attend are asked to find a parking spot along the parade route and remain at their vehicle to watch the procession. This will be a no-throw celebration to honor veterans in the community.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., the AMVETS will hold the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Elberta Veterans Memorial. Mayor Jim Hamby will be the speaker at the event.
