On May 14 at about 9:47 p.m., the Gulf Shores Police responded to a traffic accident on Highway 59 on the Holmes Bridge. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene.
After emergency personnel arrived the pedestrian, 26 year old Aubrey Coggins of Foley, Alabama was pronounced dead on the scene. The vehicle that struck him fled the scene, but was later located by Orange Beach Police officers and the offender was taken into custody. Charges are pending on the driver, 40 year old David Justin Todd of Gulf Shores Alabama.
