FOLEY, Alabama — Twenty-seven classmates, their spouses and guests, of the Foley High Class of 1952 gathered at the Wolf Bay Lodge to celebrate their 65th year reunion Thursday, July 20. Registration began at 10 a.m. Guests welcomed each other and looked at name tags to recognize the person they were talking to. Betty Jean Lewis Alms and Mable Benton Whepley registered the guests.

Later the guests moved to the banquet room and were welcomed by the class vice president, Wayne Teem. Dolores Mikkelsen Teem reported that for the first time no members of the faculty were present. Katherine Steedley sent her greetings to the class as did R. L. Smith, who is now 99 years old. Wayne called on Dr. George Miller, boys’ class secretary, to call the roll. Members present responded; reports were given on the absent members; and, deceased members were remembered by the ringing of a bell. Mildred Amos Whitaker was in charge of the memorial arrangements. Classmates were sorry to hear that Thomas Lee Mills, who had planned to attend, was in the hospital instead.

Dr. Billy Nutt led the class in prayer prior to the lunch buffet.

Dolores Teem gave a report on class funds. Donations were received and a check will be given to Foley High School in order that portraits of their teacher,

R. L. Smith, later vice principal, principal and Superintendent of Education of Baldwin County Schools and W. C. McGowan, their principal and later Superintendent of Baldwin County Schools to be hung in the school hallway.

The class voted to continue to meet annually on the first Thursday in October at the Wolf Bay Lodge in Foley at 11 a.m. The reunion ended with the singing of the Foley Alma Mater led by the husband of Ethel Boone Riddle, Harold Riddle.

The class appreciated the work done by the Planning Committee:

Maureen Manley Rhodes, Lillie Mae Jackson Harrison, Bill Hall, Ethel Boone Riddle, Wayne and Dolores Mikkelsen Teem.
