Foley Woman’s Club donates to Ecumenical Ministries

FOLEY - The Foley Woman’s Club donated $4,000 to Ecumenical Ministries to assist the organization during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We certainly appreciate the Foley Woman’s Club and everything that they’ve always done to support Ecumenical Ministries,” said South Baldwin Director Dana Jepsen. “And right now especially in these uncertain times, having the additional support is huge as we continue to serve the community. We’re just super grateful.”

Ecumenical Ministries helps those in need in Baldwin County, from providing food pantries to helping low-income families keep their electricity turned on. With the current situation due to COVID-19 and many people finding themselves without work, Ecumenical Ministries continues to do what it can to support the community.

“Even though we couldn’t have our annual charity event this year, we wanted to make a donation to a worthy cause, and we thought that Ecumenical Ministries was one of the best,” said Foley Woman’s Club First Vice President Sylvia Womack. “We’re just glad that we had the funds from our Mad Hatters’ Event that was supposed to happen to be able to do this.”

The Mad Hatters’ Event, which was scheduled to take place in March 2020, has been rescheduled for March 3, 2021 at the Foley Civic Center. The venue will follow the same program, and is being called World of Books 2.0 by club members. All raffle, pot of gold tickets, and auction items donated for the 2020 event will be kept and reused for the 2021 event. Tickets purchased for the 2020 event will be honored at the 2021 Mad Hatters’ Event.
