GULF SHORES, Ala. – Former Foley High athlete Keldrick Edwards is now at the University of Mobile on a track scholarship. He competed in the NAIA championship heat of the 400-meter dash last weekend in Gulf Shores and now qualifies as a college track All-American.
The University of Mobile Men's & Women's Track Teams had multiple athletes compete in the 2018 NAIA Outdoor National Championship. Overall the Rams were well represented in the NAIA Championship and were highlighted by Edwards’performance. The UM Rams’ freshman earned All-American status by finishing seventh at the national meet in the 400m Dash finals with a time of 48.27. He also contributed to the Rams’ 4x100m Relay performance at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores.
"Extremely proud of the athletes that competed today they are committed and were focused and have worked hard year-round to earn the opportunity to compete at Nationals,” said Rams’ head coach Andy Canegitta.
“Keldrick, who is only a freshman had a great performance and ran with heart. This was a great learning experience for this young group and they will work even harder to come back to Nationals. Nothing is given, you have to earn it and this group earned it by working hard,"
