Posted

The 35th annual Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival will feature more than 200 nationally acclaimed songwriters in venues along the Florida / Alabama Gulf Coast from Nov. 7-17.
The festival is an opportunity for seasoned and aspiring songwriters and musicians from all over the world to have their songs heard, and for the public to learn the stories behind the lyrics that only the song’s author can express. During this exciting 11 day festival, performers will be hosted in over two dozen venues from Downtown Pensacola and Perdido Key, Florida, into Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Bon Secour and Silverhill, Alabama.

"Stories in Rhyme" FBISF Documentary Screening
Flora-Bama Main Room 1 – 3 p.m.
This documentary is about the little known and the legendary singer/songwriters that have made Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival at the World-Famous Flora-Bama Lounge on the Gulf of Mexico, the longest running songwriters festival in the country. We will explore the characters, the songs, the art form, their inspiration and the camaraderie of these colorful storytellers behind the music played in this honky-tonk from four generations of songwriters inspired by the Festival. From our historic footage, you will hear from some of the late-greats like Hank Cochran, Mickey Newbury, Larry Butler and other talented songwriters perform, tell stories and pay homage to the man who befriended and nurtured them for the past 34 years, Joe Gilchrist, the founder.
