On Wednesday, Nov. 2, an exciting donation of books was made to the Foley Elementary School library program.
Big Fish Restaurant owners Leck LaBron and Jana Lilayuva partnered with Give-A-Book to provide 100 hardbound and library-bound Accelerated Reader books for the students of Foley Elementary.
Give-A-Book is a project of United Charitable, a nonprofit, public charity that supports literacy through donating new books to children, schools and community libraries, both in the United States and Latin America.
In the United States, they partner with individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, student groups and educational foundations to provide these books. In Latin America, the schools chosen usually have very few books or none. Mission and humanitarian teams from churches, civic organizations and student groups play a crucial role in creating the sets of books to be given and delivering them to the schools.
Anyone interested in partnering with Give-A-Book can contact Carl Dickerson, program director, by email at carldickerson55@gmail.com, by phone at 850-291-3379, visit the charity's web site at give-a-book.net, or visit the Facebook page, Facebook.com/GiveABookToChildren.
