Gulf Shores city council approved the donation of a surplus fire truck to Guardians of The Ribbon – Lower Alabama during the council meeting Oct. 28.

Guardians of The Ribbon – Lower Alabama drive a pink fire trucks names Cindy around lower Alabama every year to spread our awareness campaign supporting all women in their fight against cancer. They help raise money and awareness for nonprofit entities that help local woman. In addition, this nonprofit supports and helps other programs raise money by bringing the pink fire truck to various fundraisers to assist in the efforts at no charge to the organization.

CINDY, the pink firetruck, was created by Guardians of The Ribbon - Lower Alabama Chapter with the Help of City of Orange Beach and City of Orange Beach Fire Department. The newer engine can be used on longer trips and reach double the events.

The surplus truck was not usable to fight fires any longer but the chassis and drivetrain are solid and the air conditioning works. Fundraising will begin soon to paint her pink.
