Gulf Shores Police Department announced Officer Mike Drummond as officer of the month for July 2019.

Drummond is currently assigned as a school resource officer and during the summer he worked on the Beach Patrol.

Patrol Division Commander, Lieutenant Alan Carpenter, wrote on Drummond’s commendation, “Your attention to detail and willingness to go beyond first impressions were highlighted by an incident July 16 when you stopped to assist a motorist. During the initial contact you were able to determine that no only was the person wanted for breaking and entering, the vehicle he was driving had recently been stolen. This was the second occupied stolen vehicle you recovered within a month. These examples showcase your training and experience when it
