Gulf Shores Police SWAT team members win big at competition

Members of the Gulf Shores Police SWAT team participated in the 2019 Alabama Tactical Officers Association (ATOA) Competition in Oxford. Sgt. Lorant Baranovics placed first in the sniper competition and Officer Justin Schulz and Detective Nick Corcoran finished second in the team competition.

Gulf Shores has 10 police officers and seven paramedics assigned to the South Baldwin Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. Gulf Shores Police Department is one of six member agencies that make up the South Baldwin SWAT, a regional tactical team. South Baldwin SWAT is composed of law enforcement and medical personnel from the cities of Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. This team was formed to provide resolution to high-risk situations.
