Herbert Dalton Barnhart, age 94, native of Nixa, Missouri and resident of Spanish Fort, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016.

Mr. Barnhart was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a graduate of Missouri University of Science and Technology.

After a long career with General Electric, where he held numerous patents, he and his wife retired to Daphne. While in Daphne, Mr. Barnhart served as a member and chairman of the Daphne Utility Board.

He is survived by his children, Herbert David (Debbie) Barnhart of Davenport, Iowa, Pamela Barnhart (Kenneth) Schultz of Daphne, Alabama; grandchild, Alexandria Helen Barnhart of Davenport, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Jeremiah Wayne (Belle) Davis of Midland, Texas, Joshua Michael (Ellen) Davis of Davenport, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Alysha Marie Turner of Davenport, Iowa, Ava Joann Turner of Davenport, Iowa; step-great-grandchildren, Charles Damian Blaize of Midland, Texas, Moorea Belle Blanchard of Midland, Texas, Addilyn Michelle Davis of Davenport, Iowa, Nora Anne Davis of Davenport, Iowa, Anna Lee Davis of Midland, Texas and Alea Michelle Davis of Midland, Texas.

Memorial services will be held at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11 a.m.

Interment will be held at a later date in Rolla, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, 6690 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort, AL 36527.
