Jacqueline Poling Stroud

Sept. 6, 1939 - June 18, 2017

Jacqueline Poling Stroud of Orange Beach, Alabama left this life to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at her home.

Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Jacki attended Marshall University where she was a varsity cheerleader. While at Marshall, she met the love of her life, William R. Stroud (Bill) her husband of 59 years.

Jacki loved her Lord, her family and Gulf Shores First Baptist Church, especially the Sista Chicks and Fisherman's Sunday School class.

Bill's career took them to seven states and she enjoyed being active in her local churches where she and Bill often served together. As a mother who poured her heart and energy into the lives of her children, she served as a youth group leader while her three children were growing up in Dothan, Alabama, and she chaperoned on countless youth retreats.

Blessed with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who she dearly loved, Jacki's heart danced when she spent cherished time with these children. Throughout her life, Jacki's favorite place was at the beach and she was able to spend many years living at Mexico Beach, and most recently at Orange Beach.

Jacki treasured her friendships with those in her church and those in her domino and bridge groups.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Emily Poling.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Stroud; children, William R. Stroud II (Leesa), Sherri S. Mayer (Richard), Anne S. Allison (Chuck); grandchildren, William R. Stroud III (Brittiany), A. Taylor Stroud (Jessica), Kellie M. Stroud (fiancé Sean Garrett), Stephanie H. Neely (Ward), Brook E. Hawkins, Katie L. Allison, Lauren H. Allison, Allen R. Mayer (Brittany) and Bryan H. Mayer (Laura Ann); great-grandchildren, Callen E. Stroud, Vivienne H. Stroud, J. Porter Neely, R. Hampton Neely, Ellis C. Mayer; and lifelong friend, Linda Babcock.

Services will be held at Gulf Shores First Baptist Church, Orange Beach, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Lawrence Phipps officiating.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
