James Earl "Jim" Langley Sr., age 80, passed away Aug. 21, 2018.

His services will be held on Friday, Aug. 24 at the Silverhill Covenant Church.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11.

Burial will be in the Silverhill Cemetery.

Jim was born July 10, 1938 in Clanton, Alabama to Therba W. Langley and Annie O. Langley. The family also included another son, Harold Langley, and three daughters, Delene Langley, Peggy (Lamar) Giles and Margie (Harry) Melton.

At a young age his family moved to Baldwin County and Jim became a lifelong resident of Silverhill. He was married to Susan Smith Langley on Aug. 7, 1999.

He was a talented building contractor, working for several construction companies before eventually going into business for himself.

Jim was involved in many community activities over his lifetime, however, his passion was coaching and mentoring young people, both girls and boys, in football, baseball and softball.

He was also an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. Late in life one of his greatest joys was placing flowers from his yard each Sunday on the altar at the Silverhill Covenant Church, of which he was a longtime member.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; one son, James (Treva) Langley Jr. of Silverhill, Alabama; and two daughters, Lori (Steve) Shackelford of Silverhill, Alabama and Wendy (Shannon) McMillan of Madison, Mississippi. He has three grandsons, Jamie (Jessica) Langley, Blake (Ashley) Langley and Garrett (Brittney) Shackelford; and one granddaughter, Baylee Shackelford. In addition, he has seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Silverhill Veterans Memorial Organization, P.O. Box 94, Silverhill, AL 36576 in memory of Jim Langley.

Arrangements by Mack Funeral Home, Highway 59, Robertsdale, Alabama.
