John Wayne Woods

Mr. John Wayne Woods, age 82, of Foley, Alabama, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.
He was born on June 1, 1935 to parents, Nolan and Alberta Woods in Crawford, Alabama where he was raised.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Brenda Henderson Woods; sons, Steve Woods (Taryn) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Michael Woods (Myong Kim) of Blacklick, Ohio; daughter, Penny Johnson (Joe) of Cullman, Alabama; grandchildren, Amy Baker (Tim), Blake Murray, Brent Murray, Stephen Woods, Josh Woods and Mahlon Woods; and brother, James Woods (Lydia) of Bay City, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and uncle and aunt, Monroe and Gertrude Chafin, who raised him from a small child.
Mr. Woods retired from Ampex Corporation in Opelika and had lived in Foley for the past 14 years. He was a longtime member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church in Opelika.
Visitation will be held at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 from 1 until 2 p.m., with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. Dr. Rob Haynes and Rev. Dick Brooks will officiate.
Burial will be in Pierce Chapel Cemetery following the service.
