July is lining up to be quite eventful at the Foley Public Library. The library hopes many will join in for these fun and interesting programs.

BINGO Night starts back on Fri., July 12 at 6 p.m. It will go on for three months, July-September. The BINGO Night for July is already full, but they will also have a BINGO Night on Fri., Aug. 16, and on Fri., Sept. 20. The library takes reservations for the next month’s BINGO starting on the Monday following BINGO Night. To make an August reservation, please call the library (after 9 a.m.) or email mschnieders@cityoffoley.org on Mon., July 15. You can do the same for the September BINGO Night starting on Mon., Aug. 19.

An Adult Art Craft is scheduled for Sat., July 20, at 9 a.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the library. The theme is “Jigglin’ Jellyfish.” All supplies will be provided by the library; however attendees are asked to bring a hot glue gun if they have one. Attendees are also encouraged to bring any embellishments they wish to add to their jellyfish. Supplies are limited for this program so reservations are required. Please call the library to reserve a spot.

On Tues., July 23, the library will host an “Old-Time Radio Hour” in the upstairs meeting room starting at 2 p.m. Two episodes from the Escape radio show will be played – The Lost Special, written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Orient Express, written by Graham Greene. Free cookies and Ovaltine will be served. There is no reservation required for this program.

For Bob Ross fans, there will be a “Joy of Painting” session on Sat., July 27 at 10 a.m. This is a “make-n-take event” conducted by certified Bob Ross instructor, D’vora Power. Attendees are asked to bring a 1” paintbrush for oils, a fan brush for oils, and a palette knife. Canvases, easels, gesso, and oil paint will all be provided by the library. Attendees are also encouraged to wear an artist apron or smock. Supplies are very limited for this program so a reservation is definitely required. Please call the library for a spot.

On Wed., July 31, all things Harry Potter will be celebrated at the library. July 31 is both Harry Potter’s birthday and author J. K. Rowling’s birthday. From 9 a.m. - noon on this date, the library will have photo opportunities complete with a sorting hat and some Harry Potter standees. Prizes will be given to children who show up in costume for as long as supplies last. Free stickers, buttons, bookmarks, and coloring/puzzle pages will also be available. This is a come and go event. No reservation is required.

In addition to all these special programs in July, the library will continue to have their standard programs such as the Doki Doki Anime Club (children ages 9-18 years) at 4:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of most months, the Patron Picks Movies at 1 p.m. on first and third Saturdays of most months, and Makersaurus Time (children ages 6-16 years) at 4 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of most months.

For more information on any of these programs, please see the library’s website at www.foleylibrary.org or call the library at 251-943-7665. You can also check out the Foley Public Library on Facebook and Instagram.
