Tennis
Barry Booth has been recognized for his tennis play. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy freshman was named to the all-Skyline Conference first team. The Spanish Fort High School graduate had the most singles victories on the squad, finishing with an 11-5 overall record, including 11-3 in dual play.
He played first through third singles, finishing with a 10-2 mark at No. 3, and was 6-0 in conference matches. Booth was 11-8 overall playing at first doubles. He was the conference rookie of the week April 24.

Baseball
Point University first baseman Dayton Cook was named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference all-tournament team. The former Toro hit .346 with two home runs and three runs batted in, as Point won the conference championship.
Troy University relief pitcher Corey Childress was 3-2 with one save and a 5.14 earned run average in 17 appearances. The senior is out of Fairhope High.

Men's rodeo
Previously at Robertsdale High, sophomore Dalton Thames of East Mississippi Community College won the bull riding at a University of West Alabama event. He finished the season fifth in the event in the Ozark Region standings.

Softball
Belhaven University senior Kaitlyn Blubaugh is on the all-American Southwest Conference third team. The Daphne High alumna started all 41 games she played and batted .322 with 15 RBIs. The outfielder had a .988 fielding percentage in 82 chances.
University of Alabama senior infielder Peyton Grantham hit .214 in 44 games, including 33 starts. The Daphne product had four home runs and 14 RBIs.

Women's golf
Over the Memorial Day weekend, Elaine Wood won the Eggland's Best Tour Championship on the National Women's Golf Association Tour. The Spanish Fort graduate shot 212 (73-69-70) to win her third tournament since late February. She collected $6,000, her biggest purse in 13 tour tournaments this year. As of Monday, she ranked first in the player of the year and money lists, according to the NWGA online site.
