Legends in Concert now at OWA

FOLEY - Ever dreamed of seeing Bruno Mars, Reba, Elvis, Rod Stewart, and Garth Brooks on stage? How about at the same time? That’s now possible with the newly located world-class show at OWA, Legends in Concert, the longest-running production show in Las Vegas and the number one voted tribute show in the city.

The show, which has been internationally acclaimed as a pioneer of live tribute shows and has been seen by more than 38 million people, has come home to OWA in a permanent theater that will run 11-months a year, only closing in January. The show features a live band, video reinforcement, talented tribute artists, and even local dancers who have been scouted from the area, as well as performances ranging from a multitude of genres and musical eras.

So what can you expect when you visit Legends in Concert at OWA? The newly built theater features additional parking for theater-goes, as well as a group entrance (15 or more) and first-class gift shop. The box office will open two-hours prior to shows for ticket purchases for that night’s show, or guests can purchase tickets online in advance. The theater has 461 seats, including a mezzanine opening mid-June and featuring a bar and high-top tables with great views of the stage. Tribute artists will meet guests in two alcoves on either side of the box office prior to the event for personal photos, and no one should leave immediately after a show.

“One thing we like to do is after the show all the legends come out into the lobby and take photos with the guests,” said Chief Operating Officer at On Stage Enterprises, LLC Brian Brigner. “It’s super cool because they stay dressed in character, so the photos look great, but they come out of character and give their real name if you ask. We don’t charge for the meet-and-greet, it’s just a neat way for the guests to end their night.”

OWA is beginning with five tribute artists at the venue: Bruno Mars, Reba, Elvis, Rod Stewart, and Garth Brooks. Each tribute performs every concert, giving five very different shows during the two-hour performance, with 14 - 19 minutes stage time between them. The artists at OWA have been involved with Legends in Concert for a while and are ready to kick-things off along the Gulf Coast. The show changes quarterly, so in four months the five premier tribute artists will move to other shows and new artists will come to take their place, creating an entirely new show and reason to visit OWA and Legends.

“The show is so nostalgic in nature,” Brigner said. “One of my favorite lines that I’ve heard since being with the company is ‘reliving old memories and creating new ones.’ I want to become a tradition for families on vacation here … We want to give them an escape for a couple hours, bring back memories for people who have seen these artists before, but also create new family memories.”

Brigner states the artists and performers treat each night as if it were a one-night show, bringing their all to each performance. Legends also performs special holiday concerts beginning on November 24, decorating the theater and stage for the season and the tribute artists performing both songs that made the artist famous as well as special holiday songs.

The artists are found in many different ways, but firsts things first: they have to be able to sing the artist they will be performing. If a performer can’t sing the part, Brigner says the audition stops there. The performances are done live and each artist has to be able to sing, act, dance, and look like the artist they represent.

“People have said this is the closest they’ve got to seeing the real thing,” Brigner said. “These artists are speaking in first person during their performance, they’re creating the illusion that for 15-minutes you’re seeing the real deal; we’re trying to create that illusion that you’re at that concert and you’re seeing them live.”

Brigner says out of the 100s of audition submissions received each year, only two percent ever set foot on a Legends of Concert stage, making their tribute artists the top in the industry.
